Here's an American commercial online resource featuring key people in the arts, sport, culture and food giving their professional advice in a workshop setting.  You can explore classes at your own pace with the on-demand videos and workbooks.

Masterclass workshops online

Thomas Hampson gives series of master classes at Heidelberg Lied Academy, now on Medici.tv

The Heidelberg Lied Academy takes place every spring as part of the 5-week-long Musikfestival Heidelberger Frühling. Under the artistic direction of celebrated American baritone Thomas Hampson, the academy offers a series of master classes aimed to give young singers the tools for well-informed, text-based song interpretation, and to enable them to tell rich stories through their musical performances. In the first of three April 2017 Academy master classes, Hampson worked with the singers soprano Marie Seidler, baritone Justin Michael Austin, and mezzo-soprano Susan Zarrabi on songs by Ravel, Berlioz, and Satie.

Summer in Vienna: International Music Masterclasses

Somehow, brochures for music festivals regularly make their way to the Whittaker Library.  Today, we got two copies of an Austrian masterclass brochure.  Sharing the online link will attract more attention, so here it is ... offering opportunities for singers, pianists, solo instrumentalists, and chamber ensembles.

Whitaker Library Trial of Medici TV

We currently have a trial of Medici TV for all of our staff and students.

Medici is a streaming service that covers concerts and archived historical concerts, operas, ballets, documentaries, artist portraits, educational programs and master classes. There is so much to get your teeth into!

The events that are broadcast live are from venues such as Carnegie Hall, Walt Disney Concert Hall, Concertgebouw, Teatro alla Scala, Berliner Philharmonie, Salle Pleyel, Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, Verbier Festival and Salzburger Festspiele.

You can access this resource at the RCS as well as at home and it is available on all digital devices including tablets and smartphones (iOS and Android).

The trial ends on the 6^th of February so please make the most of it and let the Whittaker Library know what you think!

Trondheim International Chamber Music Festival presents:

Vienna Master Courses (Wiener Meisterkurse) 2014.  A range of courses (generally lasting about 10 days) between these dates:-

Brigitte Fassbaender Masterclass 25-28 August at the Schubertiade

Whittaker received leaflets about the Brigitte Fassbaender Masterclass, which takes place in at the Schubertiade in Schwarzenberg between 25-28 August 2014.

String Quartet Opportunity - but Hurry!

Barbican/Guildhall Creative Learning offers the opportunity for conservatoire-level string quartets to participate in a masterclass with Britten Sinfonia Lab.
