The story goes that milkmaids would wash their faces in the morning dew on 1st May, to make themselves beautiful and attract a handsome mate.
Forget the mythology! Welcome to 2017.
Nowadays, we get up early to look for grant funding opportunities and chances to develop our careers in new and innovative ways. In Scotland, Open Project Funding from Creative Scotland is an attractive continuous programme for people in the creative sector. Obviously, there are terms and conditions, and the waiting time is longer if you're seeking larger amounts of funding.
So, if you got up early this May morning, why not put your time to good use and take a look at the Creative Scotland website? The early bird catches the worm. (Some sayings never go out of fashion!) From the website:-
"Open Project Funding is a continuous programme, meaning that you can
make an application at any time throughout the year and there are no
deadlines. You will however need to allow enough time between when you
apply and when you plan to start your project to allow Creative Scotland
to undertake the assessment of your proposal." Visit the website:- http://tinyurl.com/CreativeScotlandFundingProgs

Write then tell a story - on the Glasgow streets.
The Creative Scotland website tells you all you need to know. If you're interested in street theatre, all the better!
"As part
of SURGE 2013, Ferran Orobitg of Catalan street theatre company
Fadunito, will be presenting Externet, a new, playful interactive
outdoor installation looking at intimacy in public spaces and
communication between strangers. Externet involves performers reciting
stories they’ve written themselves, each to a single audience member.
"For
the Glasgow performances of Externet, Ferran is seeking to run a
workshop with a group of first-time - or non-established - writers from
as broad a range of backgrounds as possible. The workshops will involve
an exploration of a variety of approaches to writing for performance..." (Read more)

The London 2012 Festival programme - the culmination of the Cultural Olympiad - has just been launched and despite being the furthest away from London, Scotland’s programme is probably the most comprehensive outside of the Olympic host city.
