Hey, Hey, we have a new BSL-signed, Captioned Library Video

We wanted to share the new library video with you - we're absolutely delighted with it!  We hope it will help explain some of the important things about the library here at RCS.
.

You can find it on YouTube here: https://youtu.be/eTmyDRCF-Pk

And on the Portal at the library's Help and Support page:- https://portal.rcs.ac.uk/library/help-support/

The captions can be turned on using the CC button on YouTube.

Our thanks go to our RCS alumnus actor, and to our RCS colleagues for helping us put this all together!

Benedict Morris, We're Proud of You!

As you may know, one of our trad musicians, Benedict Morris, has just won the Young Traditional Musician of the Year 2019 award.  We found this clip on YouTube, so we thought we'd share it with you.

We're proud of you, Benedict!  Congratulations from the Whittaker Library at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.

Whittaker Library - Using the Catalogue and E-Resources

Hey, we now have a Whittaker Library YouTube presentation! Don't get too excited - you won't find librarians doing cartwheels or anything like that - it's just about using the library catalogue and exploring some of our electronic resources.  We thought that a few slides with a voiceover might just be helpful to any of our new students who haven't had much to do with online catalogues or databases before.

It's here (imagine your own fanfare):- Using the Library Catalogue and Accessing Electronic Resources

It "does what it says on the tin"!

That Funky Musicology (YouTube)

You really must play this!  Whittaker would turn in his grave, but our thanks to Dr Kieran Fenby-Hulse for tweeting this link.

(If you find cute singing youngsters a bit saccharine-sweet, our apologies - Karen liked it!)

Supporting the deaf and hearing impaired

Whittaker recently discovered that the Scottish Council on Deafness films the key SCoD news in BSL (British Sign Language), and uploads it to YouTube. Since the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland aims to work closely with deaf students, this link might be useful to the deaf and hearing impaired student community.

RSAMD Alumnus K. James Peace

Always interested to hear what our alumni are doing, 'Whittaker' has just been advised that K. James Peace (now in Wiesbaden), has posted a flute piece on YouTube:-

The Waterfall, op.3 (click here to view)

This piece was written whilst the composer was a student at RSAMD, in the old Athenaeum building at Nelson Mandela Place, Glasgow.  Our thanks to Mr Peace for keeping in touch!
